The Rantum Capital investment team is based in Frankfurt and currently consists of 12 investment professionals and support staff. The team members are either allocated directly to our credit or equity funds or act as generalists for both segments.
For our private equity activities we work closely with our joint venture partners’ offices in Shanghai and Hong Kong with ten additional investment professionals.
Apart from the full-time investment professionals, Rantum Capital has 14 Industrial Partners contributing their individual industry expertise with sourcing, analyzing, diligencing and monitoring potential and existing portfolio companies. All Industrial Partners are shareholders of Rantum Capital and investors into our funds with own money.
- Previously CEO of Morgan Stanley Bank AG and Country Head of Morgan Stanley for Germany & Austria. Studied business, philosophy and political sciences and graduated with a Master’s degree from the University of Mannheim; afterwards completed a Ph.D. in economics at the University of Stuttgart.Before Rantum Capital, Marc was an investment professional in the European corporate private equity team of Carlyle working on large-cap and Mittelstand buyouts in the German-speaking region. Previously he collected work experience in investment banking and strategy consulting at Goldman Sachs and at McKinsey & Company. He graduated with Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees in business from WHU Koblenz and an MBA degree from the University of Texas at Austin, where he was a Kozmetsky Scholar.Carsten joined Rantum Capital as Managing Director in May 2014 and was involved in all transactions of Rantum Private Debt Fund I. His career prior to Rantum spans more than two decades of senior leadership experience in subordinated and senior lending with Deutsche Bank, IKB, DZ Bank and most recently as the director for the mezzanine portfolio of Haspa, the largest German savings bank. Carsten also spent several years in the workout-division of IKB. He graduated with a Master’s degree in business from the University of Applied Sciences Landshut.Haiko is Rantum Capital’s Chief Financial Officer and responsible for administration and operations of the different funds and investment vehicles as well as for tax & accounting. He also acts as Compliance officer. Previously Haiko was a Senior Manager in the funds group of Ernst & Young in Frankfurt working for a variety of asset managers and investment funds. He graduated with a Master’s degree in business from the University of Marburg and is a chartered tax advisor in Germany (“Steuerberater”).
Jost Frederik WenckebachExecutive Director (Equity)Jost Frederik Wenckebach, gathered vast experience in numerous transactions in different industry sectors. Before joining Rantum Capital, Mr. Wenckebach worked more than four years as Investment Manager in private equity and more than two years as Senior Associate in M&A advisory. After his bachelor studies in the Netherlands, Mr. Wenckebach graduated with a Master of Finance and a Master in European Business from the ESCP Europe.Before starting at Rantum Capital to focus on equity investments, Andreas gained work experience in strategy consulting, transactional services and corporate audit, in particular in the packaging industry as well as the industrial services sector. He graduated with Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees in business administration from the University of Mannheim.Before joining Rantum Capital to focus both on debt and equity investments, Philipp gained work experience in private equity at Deutsche Beteiligungs AG, in strategy consulting at Accenture and Arthur D. Little and in management consulting at Ebner Stolz. He graduated with a Master’s degree in Management from ESCP Europe in Paris and a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Düsseldorf.

Sabine LorenzFund Administration & Accounting ProfessionalSabine Lorenz supports the Rantum Capital team with regards to fund administration, accounting and finance. Mrs. Lorenz holds a Masters degree in Economics from Humboldt University Berlin and is a trained tax clerk. She possesses 20+ years of work experience in tax, accounting and bookkeeping.
Laura BeckmannOffice ManagerLaura supports the team as Office Manager. Prior to Rantum Capital, she worked for several years as Assistant in the real estate industry. In addition to her apprenticeship as office clerk, Laura is a certified bilingual secretary.

Wolfgang HartmannChairman of the Investment Committee (Debt)Chairman of the Investment Committee (Debt). Mr. Hartmann is the Chairman of the Investment Committee of Rantum’s debt activities. He spent his professional career with Commerzbank, most recently as member of the executive board and Chief Risk Officer and before that as Chief Credit Officer. Next to his involvement with Rantum Capital, he is the honorary Chairman of the Frankfurt Institute for Risk Management and Regulation and teaches risk management courses at the University of Frankfurt. Wolfgang Hartmann holds a Master degree in Economics from the University of Frankfurt.
Dr. Michael RogowskiIndustrial Partner for Machine Making, Capital Goods, Technology & AutomationDr. Michael Rogowski is Rantum’s Industrial Partner for Machine Making, Capital Goods, Technology & Automation. He is looking back on a long-term career as CEO of Voith (one of the largest German family-owned machine makers). He is also the former president of the BDI (Federation of German Industries, the largest umbrella association of the German economy) and honorary Chairman of the German association of Machine Makers. He holds a Master in Business Engineering from the Technical University of Karlsruhe and a PhD from the Technical University of Karlsruhe.

He is the long-term CEO of Metro, the DAX-30 German retailer. He started his career at Oetker Group (foods) and Söhnlein Rheingold (beverages). He holds a Ph.D. in business from the Technical University of Berlin and Master’s degrees in business as well as Brewery Sciences from Technical University of Berlin.
