DR. ROLF MARTIN SCHMITZ JOINS RANTUM CAPITAL AS INDUSTRIAL PARTNER
German asset manager Rantum Capital is pleased to welcome Dr. Rolf Martin Schmitz as new Industrial Partner and co-shareholder, thereby extending its expertise in the energy sector.
Dr. Rolf Martin Schmitz will be focusing primarily on the evaluation of business models in the field of renewable and conventional energies as well as energy-related services and infrastructure. Dr. Schmitz studied engineering at RWTH Aachen University, where he obtained his doctorate in 1985. Subsequently, he worked as an engineer for STEAG and held a managerial position at VEBA AG (predecessor of today’s E.ON SE). This was followed by roles as a board member at rhenag Rheinische Energie AG and Thüga Beteiligungen AG. In 2004, Dr. Schmitz assumed the position of Chairman of the Management Board at E.ON Kraftwerke GmbH in Hannover, before taking over as Chairman of the Management Board at Cologne’s RheinEnergie AG in 2006. From 2009 onwards, he held the position of COO at RWE AG in Essen; in 2012, he additionally became Deputy Chairman of the Management Board before taking over as CEO of RWE AG in 2016. Dr. Schmitz serves as a member of the supervisory boards of E.ON SE and TÜV Rheinland AG. In addition, he holds the position of Deputy Chairman of the Supervisory Board of KELAG in Klagenfurt. Since 2023, he has chaired the Supervisory Board of solar park operator Encavis AG.
At the same time, Dr. Alfred Tacke, former Industrial Partner for the energy sector, will be going into well-deserved retirement after more than ten years. Over the past ten years, Dr. Alfred Tacke played a pivotal role in the success of Rantum through his industry expertise and extensive network.
