Dr. Kurt Bock and Wilfried Porth join Rantum Capital as Industrial Partners

German asset manager Rantum Capital is pleased to welcome Dr. Kurt Bock and Wilfried Porth as new Industrial Partners and co-shareholders, thereby extending its expertise in the chemicals, automotive as well as machine making and engineering industries.

Dr. Kurt Bock will be focusing primarily on the evaluation of business models in the chemicals space. He studied business administration at the University of Cologne and Pennsylvania State University before starting his professional career with German chemicals company BASF in 1985. After several positions both in Germany and abroad, he became a member of the executive board of BASF in 2003 and was acting CEO of BASF from 2011 to 2018. Since 2020, Kurt Bock is the Chairman of the Supervisory Board of BASF as well as member of the Supervisory Board of BMW and Chairman of Baden-Baden Entrepreneur Talks (BBUG).

Wilfried Porth studied engineering at the University of Stuttgart. After graduation, he joined Daimler where he held various leading management positions, including Head of the transporter business unit as well as CEO of Mitsubishi Fuso Truck & Bus based in Japan. From 2009 to 2021, Wilfried Porth served as member of the executive board (Vorstand) of Daimler AG taking responsibility for various tasks e.g. international procurement services and human resources.

Dr. Karl-Ludwig Kley, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Rantum Capital, commented: “We cordially welcome Dr. Kurt Bock and Wilfried Porth to our group of Industrial Partners. The German Mittelstand is home to many world-market leading chemicals, engineering and machine making companies. Meanwhile, the effects of increased energy costs, inflation, supply chain disruptions and – in case of automotive suppliers – the generational shift to e-mobility all need to be properly reflected in the investment decisions. With their profound industry knowledge and long-term successful track records as business leaders in the German economy, Dr. Kurt Bock and Wilfried Porth will contribute valuable industry experience to our investment process. We are looking forward to working closely together with both.

Rantum’s 18 Industrial Partners are industry thought leaders with backgrounds in a variety of different industrial verticals and economic sectors. As partners, they own a share in Rantum’s management company, invest their own money into all funds originated by Rantum and form an integral part of Rantum’s investment strategy with the philosophy “by entrepreneurs, for entrepreneurs”.
